One of the main objectives of Sentilo is to deliver information to its subscribed modules as fast as possible, so it firstly stores data colleced in memory. But it still needs a long-term storage for historical data. In summary, it needs to process information on the fly while still explore and discover historical data. And we like to have a web based interactive visual tool for that purpose.

That’s why we decided to incorporate to Sentilo two new components:

• Timescale: an open source time series database based in PostgreSQL, providing high performance and scalability when working with large amounts of data
• Grafana: the open source visualization tool provides a large suite of powerful dashboards and let us embed content, build a multi-tenancy and share dashboards
