Torrent, Spain has bolstered its Mobility Plan by installing a new intelligent pedestrian crossing on Azorín Street, bringing the city’s total to seven. These state-of-the-art systems use cameras and sensors to detect pedestrians, automatically activating luminous LED signage and reinforced lighting to warn drivers.
All activation and usage data is fed directly into the open-source platform Sentilo. This integration allows the City Council to monitor safety in real-time and make data-driven decisions for future urban improvements. This initiative is part of a wider European Union-funded Smart City project, which also includes the city’s intelligent parking (Smart Parking) system.
